| | John Adipietro e-mail me | | Hi! John Adipietro here. That's Add-uh-pee-tro. I'm a 27-year-old former computer nerd. (Thanks, Computaholics Anonymous!) I am an engineer at International Business Machines, or IBM. You know, the guys with the crazy e-business commercials on TV. I'm also a full-time student at the University of Cincinnati in Cincinnati, Ohio. I'm working on a Computer Engineering degree, with a focus on Machine Intelligence and Vision Systems. | | I got started in robotics when I was in high school. My friends and I were playing 'tag' in the Library as usual when my eye was caught by the book "How to Build Your Own Self-Programming Robot." Well I checked it out right then and there, and I still have it to this day. (Sorry, Lakewood Public Library!) I attempted to build the robot described in the book, but alas my circuit board fabrication skills were not up to the task. So I built and sold fancy battery chargers until I started college. After several years in and out of college, I finally had the skill to build my first "working" robot. His name is Wally. And I've been consumed by robotics ever since. | Working on MonroeBot | | Now it's my turn to hand over some of this knowledge to the younger generation. Several of my younger friends are interested in robotics, as are many children their age. So Team R.O.U.S. was born to help them and their peers learn about and get involved in the fascinating science of robotics. | Jeremy Daniel e-mail me | | | | Robotics is becoming more of a passion than a hobby. I have many hobbies and love studying science in general as well as many other things. Physics, Chemistry, Math, Quantum Chromodynamics... the more I study of these, the more I want to know. Recently, I hooked up with John and the wealth of information available to his super-encyclopedic brain. I actually hooked up to the RS-232 port that's under a fleshy patch of prosthetic skin in his skull and downloaded a lot of cool stuff. (Not sure, but I think he's a droid or something.) Anyway, when I hooked up with John, I told him about the robotic team I wanted to start, and he told me he already had a team going with several completed robots and all! So I donated some stuff to him to show him I was serious about helping out with the team. Then we exchanged ideas and theories about Robots, Sausage, Jello and world domination in general and we realized we were probably long lost Siamese-Twins connected at the eyeglass frames (seperated at birth of course). Anyway, the more I thought, and the more we talked, the more I realized that I had skills in Robotic Engineering. So, 2 or 3 hours after we met, at a going away party for a Hollywood bound super-diva when the Champaigne was being downed, the lights were dimming (the sun was setting) and Robots were in the air... we embraced each other heartily and parted ways with a holy kiss. | Hello everyone! My name is Kendra. I own a web site design company called Affordable Impact. Page layout and scripting code takes up most of my time. I love doing it, though. I think it's fun to create and use my imnagination to put information together. And it's worth the time and effort when you see the final product come together - like this one! I do enjoy non-computer related activities in my spare time too. (I'm not a complete "techie-geek"!) Hiking, swimming, and playing tennis keep me connected to the outside world. :) | | I became a part of the team in June of 2001. My love for robotics is fueled by my desire to learn challenging and exciting new things. I have a strong curiosity of how things work and thus enjoy studying the inter-workings of each and every robot on the team. My favorite robot is "Gel-Walker" (even though he is not 100% complete yet) because of his unique sense of touch. In the future, I would like to create a robot all on my own, from the design and programming to the building and finishing touches. When I do, I'll be sure to share it with all of you! In the meantime, keep exploring your own child-like curiosity and discover the joy of robotics! | |
